Curriculum, Identity, and Difference: Articulations Around The New National Curriculum Guidelines For Basic Education

I develop this project with the notion of curriculum as enunciation of culture. This notion is the same I used in other projects and based on it I define the curricular policy as a movement for hegemonic articulation toward the fixation of meanings. To this extent, I establish a preferential dialogue with authors such as H.Bhabha, S.Hall, E.Laclau, and C.Mouffe, as well as with the Derridan philosophy — a key reference for all those authors. Based on conclusions reached in previous researches, my objective in this study is to understand the political articulation processes that have hegemonized the perception of curriculum as a projection of identities, emphasizing the centrality that discussions on scientific knowledge have played in such projections. Understanding that the study of how different hegemonic articulations work will allow to theoretically deepen our comprehension of curriculum policy. I work with the recent national policies that produced the new National General Curriculum Guidelines for Basic Education (DCN), focusing on basic education. The decision to deal with the issue of identity in contemporary policies has forced me to approach the fact that those policies are inserted in a context in which identity fixation is called into question. In such a context, where identities can no longer be viewed as expression of positive beings, previously constituted, but as an imaginary relation between subjects who are constituted in the identification practice itself, one that will never be complete. Thus, I seek to understand the shifts that the hegemony of the concept of curriculum as the shaper of identities has undergone, taking into account the expansion of demands for difference and also avoiding the unsustainable premise that policies are not affected by questioning their fixedness.
